THAI STYLE KAMONS
(JApanese symbols)
Kamon is a Japanese symbol to indicate one's origins such as family, affiliation, and status from ancient times. Kamons always were made of natural objects and had an interesting system to relate to the graphic reduction concept.

This project is a workshop in an art history class at my university to experiment with graphic reduction of the Japanese kamon style. The brief is to choose 5 Thai cultural subjects and design them into Japanese Kamons.
Row 1: Siamese fighting fish
Row 2: Flamboyant flower
Row 3: Watermelon
Row 4: Thai Cymbal or Ching (Thai musical instrument)
Row 5: Loy Krathong day
